New Kitchen Care

New Kitchen Care

You’ve spent a lot of money and time picking out the perfect kitchen; you’ve taken your time to decide which contractor is right for you; you have established trust with that contractor and their team.  Now you finally have the kitchen of your dreams, and you’re trying to keep it that way for as long as possible. Here are a few tips we tell our clients after they’re handed a beautiful new kitchen:

  1. Moisture is your enemy: For many reasons, which we’ll explain, high levels of moisture and humidity in your home are not good. Preferable levels of moisture range from 35-55%. This will keep your drywall, doors, trim, cabinets and floors from swelling and possibly cracking. This humidity range will also help stop the spread of bacteria, germs and viruses!!
  2. Don’t spray directly: When you’re cleaning, we also recommend you not spray cleaners on your cabinets directly, instead, spray a cloth and then clean the surface. Too much cleaner in one centralized location can cause damage to finish or the wood itself.
  3. Natural Stone: Whether on your counter tops or your back splash, natural stone is porous and will need to be sealed once a year, to prevent stains, streaks or discoloring.
  4. Keep an eye on your hood vent: Hood vents prevent moisture, grease and smells from taking over your stove area, but many don’t know, there’s a charcoal filter which should be replaced when necessary to prevent buildup of grease and a restriction created for the flow of your vent system.

Keeping just these few things in check will keep your kitchen in great health, as well as the family that lives in it. If you have any other questions on kitchen maintenance, feel free to email us!
